Directorial debut — “This Play Could Have Been Written by Artificial Intelligence”

On 3rd March 2024, I made my debut as a director with the premiere of “This Play Could Have Been Written by Artificial Intelligence” — a project in which I was simultaneously the author, director and editor.

The production was realised as an online performance, co-financed under Poland’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan. It raises questions about the place of the artist — and more broadly, of humanity — in the face of the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and new technologies. AI was supposed to offer us opportunities for growth and development. Instead, it turns out that the deeper it penetrates our lives, the more it strips us of our future and our identity.

The cast included Klaudia Cygoń-Majchrowska (Nina), Mariusz Galilejczyk (James Dean), Cezary Jabłoński (The Man), Aleksandra Maj (The Stage Manager), Lech Mackiewicz (Stanisław), Karolina Olga Burek (Alexa), and guests Tomasz Borkowski and Bartłomiej Błaszczyński.

I spoke about what this project means to me personally in an interview for Nowiny Gliwickie: “Za sztuczne podziękuję”(in Polish).

The production was also covered by Dziennik Zachodni (in Polish).
